Formation
At the 16 May 1911 State Assembly meeting on 16 May 1911 the Petition of the Presbytery of Melbourne South relative to a new Presbytery was submitted by the Convener of the Business Committee.
On 23 May 1911 The Report of the Committee relative to the Petition from the Presbytery of Melbourne South was submitted by Rev Professor Adam, who moved: —
“That the Report be adopted and its various recommendations given effect to.”
The motion was seconded by the Rev J G Sterling.
It was moved as an amendment by the Rev G M Connor, and seconded by the Rev W. H. Steele: —
“That the following words be added to the motion, ‘with the exception of Clause 3.’”
The amendment was approved.
It was moved as a further amendment by the Rev J Sinclair, and seconded by the Rev J Darroch: —
“That the following words be added to the motion, ‘and that the new Presbytery be called the Presbytery of Flinders.’” The amendment was approved. The motion as amended was approved.
The new Presbytery of Flinders consisted of the charges of Cranbourne, Dandenong, Drouin, Korumburra, Leongatha, Warragal and Yarram.
In 2022 the presbytery consisted of the following congregations: Aspendale, Brighton, Cheltenham, Clarinda (HMC), Clarinda Nuer, Clayton, Cranbourne, Dandenong, Dromana-Mornington, Embrace Melbourne, Frankston, Mordialloc (AC), Officer (New Life), Somerville, Sorrento-Rye, South East Somoan (HMC).
